Saving Files as PDF for Printing Purposes

To illustrate the process, we have used Microsoft Word. Other applications can produce PDFs using a similar process.
From the File menu, select Options. In the new window, select the Save option to modify save settings. Check Embed fonts in the file. Uncheck Do not embed common system fonts if this is checked. Click OK to save these settings.

Embedding fonts in Microsoft Word (2007 & 2010) on a PC:

  1. Go to File on the menu bar and click Save As.
  2. In the "Save as type:" dropdown box, select PDF
  3. Click the "Options..." button

  4. Select ISO 19005-1 Compliant (PDF/A) and then click the "OK" button
  5. Click the "Save" button to create your PDF
